How traveling to different countries has changed Max Menkes’ life!

Max Menkes is a travel enthusiast and adventure seeker. He has been passionate about traveling since he was a child. He has traveled to more than 40 countries to date. His love for traveling started when he would go to South African safaris with his family. Since then, he has traveled to Asia, South Africa, Mozambique, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and many other places worldwide.

Born in Washington D.C., Max Menkes completed his graduation from Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA, with a Bachelor of Science degree in International Business Management. He also had the opportunity to study abroad at the University of Economics in Prague, the Czech Republic, for a few years. He has been a key player on his college’s lacrosse team. Besides lacrosse, he also has many diverse hobbies, including playing soccer, scuba diving, painting, skiing, golf, and learning new languages. He has been practicing the Chinese language for more than 8 years. Traveling to different countries has inspired Max Menkes to learn new languages and different cultures and traditions. 


Traveling to many places and seeing so many cultures during his travel journey has taught him many valuable life lessons. His trip to Cambodia with his family made him experience living in a small village where people were deprived of sufficient clean water supply. It made him feel grateful for the simple privileges that he never even thought about before. He and his family contributed to the Clean Water Project in Cambodia. They donated a well with fresh drinking water to the village they were traveling in Cambodia so the locals would have access to clean water. He actively participates in community services whenever he can. 


Even though Stephen Max Menkes has traveled to many countries, his travel list is still expanding. He dreams to visit all the incredible places in the world and accumulate extraordinary experiences.

Dickinson Volleyball-a-thon Charity - Max Menkes

Every year at Dickinson College the men’s lacrosse team puts on a “Volleyball-a-thon” to raise money for the American Red Cross. The Volleyball-a-thon is a 24-hour event that takes place outside on the sand volleyball court. Our team divides into many different groups and each group has a designated time shift. The goal is to have one team on the volleyball court at all times throughout the 24-hour event.  We invite all groups on campus to sign up on a time sheet to take part in this event by playing against us at different times throughout the day and night. The week before this event starts, our coach assigns each grade a different task. These tasks include putting up flyers around campus, going to restaurants to ask for food donations, and meeting with groups on campus to secure time slots.
